ABOUT

photo Emmely Jacobs

Hi, I’m Emmely Jacobs and I’m a freelancer {design & development: web, media, print, art} based in the Netherlands. I’ve been involved in the industry for about 11 years now, and work for a variety of small and large businesses throughout the world.

I have a keen eye for the details and I am always looking for the perfect balance between Usability, Accessibility, Beauty and Web Standards. In my works I just love to design and build stuff from the perspective of the user, instead of it being just a piece of work :-)

Work with me and receive personal, professional attention throughout the creative process and a finished product beyond your expectations. You’ll get a custom designed and thoughtfully planned product that’s just right for you.

I offer freelance services which can guide you through every stage of the design & development lifecycle, no job is too big or too small for me.

So if you are looking for solutions for your web, media, print or art projects, please get in touch to discuss the possibilities. Feel free to e-mail me at info@emscene.com!

My workproces:

  1. Discovery & Planning
In the initial phase of the project I work together with you to outline the project; discover your personal needs, the purpose of your website, your target audience, the user experience you want to create, plan the different steps we need to take to ensure that both parties are in sync, so we can bring the project to a successful conclusion.
  2. Analysis & Design
Before starting the actual design your ideas and content will be discussed. In this stadium it is important that the requirements are defined and the structure of the site has been decided, so a basic composition of the pages can be created to make sure there is a logical flow between the content on the pages and the pages themselves. During this process you will get full expert advice on the usability and user experience elements, so a successful interaction and interface design can be created. If you already got your design, you also will get the full expert advice.
  3. Prototyping
This stage in the process includes the design of the actual web pages as flat Photoshop documents, so that you can get a visual idea of how the finished website will appear. If you already have a design, the development step is next.
  4. Development
Development begins based on the requirements and concepts established during the prototyping stage. This includes the creation of static HTML and CSS web pages from the Photoshop documents (PSDs) or delivered images, which are built using semantic markup and web standards that endeavors to conform to at least Level AA of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0.
The HTML and CSS will be cross browser compliant with the current versions of Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer 7 and 8. And because I use web standards when creating HTML and CSS, your website should also work with future releases of these web browsers.
If requested, a content management system (CMS) will be incorporated to enable easy management of the website’s content, e.g. open-source content management systems such as Wordpress, Joomla and Drupal. For small websites, a simple CMS can be used.
  5. Testing
In the development you will be able to see and interact with the product in process. In this stage you are presented with the final product for testing. Any required changes are addressed and so the site can be launched.
  6. Production
If you accept the last version of the product, and all things are checked and double checked, it is time to launch the website.
  7. Support
If needed, a user manual will be handed out or we can sit down and talk things through so you can add your content to your website and fly with it! We will keep in touch, and if you have any questions I will be at your service.

As you can see I have the experience to offer freelance services which can guide you through every stage of the design & development lifecycle. You will always get my honest point of view, hard work, craftsmanship, and what is best for you and your users.
So whether you’re after a full website design/development, or you already have a design/programming team and simply need an HTML/CSS expert/developer, or need expert consultancy, no job is too big or too small for me. Based on your budget and requirements we can make something great, and make it work!
